Convert By Columbia Sportswear Backs Regional Boarding For Breast Cancer Board-A-Thon at Stratton Mountain, VT

Boarding For Breast Cancer (BBC) is a national organization working to elevate awareness among today’s youth and raise funds for breast cancer research and educational projects. Today, BBC announced the 1999 schedule for its regional Board-A-Thon program. The schedule includes three events - Mountain Creek, NJ, on January 9th, Stratton Mountain, VT, on January 23rd, and The Summit, WA, on February 14th.

BBC is proud to announce Convert by Columbia Sportswear as the Presenting Sponsor of the Stratton Mountain Board-A-Thon. Fitness Magazine, Fairdale Farms, and Trex Medical are backing the Stratton event as Supporting Sponsors.

Mountain Creek, NJ, and The Summit, WA, will also be hosting BBC Board-A-Thon fund-raisers this winter. Both resorts have committed their resources to launch the events.

Last year, BBC launched its regional BBC Board-A-Thon Program in an effort to further BBC’s mission and broaden its reach to American youth. At BBC Board-A-Thons, participants collect pledges from family, friends, and anyone interested in supporting the cause. Then, on the event day, participants hit the slopes for a day of riding or skiing. The events may vary from resort to resort with highlights including on-site breast cancer awareness and education exhibits, snowboard product demos, a product raffle, halfpipe jam session, and live music by regional bands.

To date, Boarding For Breast Cancer’s total fund-raising efforts have exceeded $237,000. Proceeds have been donated to The Breast Cancer Fund and The Susan G. Komen Foundation. BBC plans to continue seeking beneficiaries that align with the organization’s mission, while developing additional BBC youth-oriented outreach programs.
