| Todd Richards wasn't super happy to compete with the entire
cast of the World Cup Tour. After all, it was the North American Championships,
the final event on the American Pro Snowboard Series, March 17, 1996.
"This is the North American Championships," Richards said at the top of the
pipe. "All these Europeans are just here for the points. There is no way
I'm getting beaten by a European."
Jimi Scott, winner Fabian Rohrer, and a bummed
Todd Richards getting paid. I won't say it, but Todd's second run was pretty
similar to his Vail second run.

Obviously, it wasn't Todd's day. Though both his runs were solid, his airs
just weren't high enough to grab the top amplitude scores. Fabian Rohrer
of Bern, Switzerland put together the two highest scoring runs including
a McTwist, 720, and monster airs. He ended up knocking both Jimi Scott and
Richards right out of the top spot. "I had to hold back a little in the first
run, but in the second I had to go all out," Roher said. "The Americans are
very good riders and there was extremely tough competition here."
Jimi Scott of Carlsbad, California who took second enjoyed competing with
the North American's but thinks most of them need to get out on the world
tour. "I think a lot of them are just being lazy," he said. "They need to
do the World Cup tour where the real competition is."
In the Women's competition Aurelie Sayres beat out Norwegian Stine Kjeldaas
and Ulli Hoelzl of Austria.
