KAMLOOPS, British Columbia -- The Austrian Snowboard Team, for the second straight day, placed first in both men's and women's events Saturday in Kamloops. Helmut Pramstaller (AUT) beat Sweden's Ulf Maard in the men's parallel-slalom event and Manuela Riegler (AUT) knocked off Tanja Fischer for the women. The Austrians started off competition on Friday by taking the top two spots in both the men's and women's giant slalom. It was a down day for the U.S. team as Manuel Mendoza (Whitefish, MT) led the men with a 12th place finish. Sondra Van Ert (Ketchum, ID) finished 11th with Lynn Ott (Bend, OR) placing 13th for the women. Competition ends today with the halfpipe event. The North American leg of the Grundig Snowboard FIS World Cup makes its next stop in Boreal Ridge, CA on March 7 where competition begins with the giant slalom.
