London's Board X Snowboard Festival

By Press Release

October 18, 2000

Board-X, the top snowboarding event in the UK, will include: 80m real snow jump, London Big Air competitions, worlds top riders, public trial slope, exhibition hall, Nu Skool skiing demos, skateboarding, vert and midi ramps, BMX vert demos, DJs, scratch tent, video hall, bars and much more.

Co-Sponsors: SoBe, Sol, Vans & Thomson Snowboarding

Board-X is now celebrating its fifth birthday. The longest running UK Snowboard Festival will take place in Battersea Park, central London, with over 20,000 visitors expected to enjoy a weekend of sick snowboarding, music, skating, shopping and general all round joie de vivre.

The largest real snow jump in Britain will host this years London Big Air. Over 50 International riders and top British talent will session and compete on an 80m Big Air throughout the weekend. Last year witnessed awesome tricks as a world first rodeo 900 by US pro Travis Parker, Steve Baileys 1080 and Stefan Gimpls Cab 900.

Teams from Burton, Santa Cruz, Vans, Westbeach, Airwalk, K2 and Salomon have already been confirmed, and will include David Pitshi, Dani Canstandache, Danny Wheeler, Gary Greenshields and Gian Simmen. A new inclusion will be Nu Skool skiing demos which will showcase this crazy new breed of skier, from Jamie Strachan and friends.

Another favourite at Board-X is the real snow public trial slope where the public can experience that board on snow feeling. The vert ramp will feature skate and BMX competitions/demos, with Ali Cairns, Jocke Olson, Sean Goff, Zach Shaw, Jerry Galley and Simon Tabron.

Add to this; midi ramp skating, DJs, scratch tent, breakdancing and a video hall and you have a heady cocktail for a wicked weekends entertainment. As well as top retailers, there will be information stands run by the equipment manufacturers to explain all technical queries.

Tickets to the event are 5 for Friday; 8 prebooked on the Board-X ticket and information hotline 020 7729 8424 or 10 on the gate. Opening Times are Friday 12pm-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-8pm.
