The Italian sports and casual footwear manufacturer Northwave is happy to announce that as of January 31, 1997 they have officially secured the North American trade mark for the brand name "Northwave" for exclusive use world wide. Marketed in the past as "n boots" in the U.S. and Canada, the hand crafted Italian made snowboard boots and street shoes will now be officially branded Northwave. Securing the brand name marks an important stage in the companies expansion into the North American market and follows the opening of the wholly owned Subsidiary Northwave North America, based in Redmond, Washington.

A footwear manufacturer for over 25 years, and producers of snowboard boots for the past eight years, Piva / Northwave srl. has experienced phenomenal growth in recent years. Currently positioned in Europe at number one in stature, image, and product quality for their snowboard boots, Northwave's recent expansion into the street shoe market has outperformed all expectations with sales tripling in less than three years.

Northwave's general manager, GianLuca Bonora stated that Piva / Northwave has re-invested more than $ 2 million this year alone in research and development, which combined with the recent expansion into North America has placed them in a good position for future growth.

"Footwear remaining our focus, we are looking forward to establishing a strong presence world-wide under one consistent brand, Northwave," said Bonora.

"Now known for some of the highest quality and innovative product on the market, our main focus will be providing boots in the medium to high end categories and backing up our products with excellent customer service."

Northwave's current distribution network includes 17 countries in Europe, Japan, North America, and the Southern Hemisphere.

Leading the charge as president of Northwave North America will be Bob Gundram, former vice president of sales at Ride Snowboards. Joining Bob in the U.S. office will be Dane Hjort, former director of marketing at Ride Snowboards, who will act as the new director of worldwide marketing for Northwave. Bob and Dane's eighteen years of combined sales and marketing experience within the industry, in conjunction with the technically advanced manufacturing of Piva / Northwave have created an alliance to be reckoned with.
