96 Storms the House At Hurricane's

Directly following Snowboarder Magazine's apre Drifters party upstairs at Croces, the mass gathering drove north to Mission Beach and Hurricane's, a tropical bar with a savage sound system, for the premiere of Dina Helmlinger's first snowboard video titled, "96".

In a video world filled with boys, Dina charged right onto the scene and got the goods. With footage from Board Aid, Boarding For Breast Cancer, the Kamp KOME big air, Alaska, and a last minute trip to New Zealand, Dina captured a pretty rare groove. Something that seems to have been missing from snowboard videos lately. She pulled down a soulful, friend of the family look into the snowboard world.

The video mixes great music, solid riding, and some pretty funny off-snow moments with Noah Brandon, Athena, and Michelle Barnas. The editing is tight and nailed down to the beat nicely. Each section of the video was separated and individually titled. The section on Mt. Hood was called Frankie Goes To Hollyhood, for instance.

Several talking sections dragged on a bit too long, but overall the crowd at Hurricanes enjoyed the video. And if this one is any hint at what Dina is capable of, her next one will definitely be something to watch for.
