Snowboard Life Top 25: Burton BMC

November 6, 2000

"Loaded" is the only way to describe Burtons BMC model. The pride of the Burton Manufacturing Center (hence the name) is topped (bottomed) with features like an Indium base that absorbs heat to reduce friction. Tagged by Burton as "the ultimate freeride," the BMC seemed to fill that niche with our stable of testers. Lauded for its pro-caliber performance, this big-mountain barn burner doesnt lack in the ease-of-turning department. Robyn went so far as to say it "snaps effortlessly" from one turn to the next. While it can work for freestyle, the BMC earns its stripes on open slopes. With a long, gradual nose for pow, and an overall performance flex (pretty stiff), it will take a good rider anywherebe ready.
