Open Mic: Darren Cingel December 27, 2000 Open Mic I recently went on a fishing trip to Baja, Mexico with my girlfriend Nilli, as well as my friend Jeff Goldberg and an acquaintance of his. We drove down to Baja for two weeks of camping, and along the way we stopped in Loretoa relatively modernized, cool little fishing town. We decided to charter a boat and went in search of marlin, sailfish, and dorado (otherwise known as mahi mahi or dolphin fish). By 9:00 a.m., all of our arms were so tired from fighting fish, we wondered how we would make it through the rest of the day. After catching a total of twelve dorado and seeing marlin, sailfish, dolphins, manta rays, barracuda, sea turtles, sharks, flying fish, and even a loud seal, I knew this was the fishing trip Id always dreamed about. All my life Ive heard the Sea of Cortez is the most abundant body of water for fish, and now I know its true. You really should experience it for yourself, so the next time youre in Mexico, try to get some free time to go fishing. You wont regret it.Darren Cingel
