Taggart
and Hetzel Help Launch Ralph Lauren's New RLX Line
2/17/99
NEW YORK, Feb. 17 -- RLX, Ralph Lauren's completely new line of
men's and women's authentic athletic apparel, footwear and accessories
will make its retail debut on Saturday, February 20, 1999 at the
Polo Sport Store at 888 Madison Avenue in New York City.
Six-time World Snowboard Champion Michele Taggart, Boardercross
Snowboard Champ Andy Hetzel, U.S. National Mountain Bike Champion
David Wiens, Olympic Bronze Medalist Susan DeMattei and National
Triathlon Champion Hunter Kemper will be on hand from 12 Noon until
4:00 PM to meet customers and discuss the technical features of
RLX apparel, footwear and accessories, along with training, nutrition
and competition strategies.
The RLX lines for cycling, cross training, outdoor adventure, ski
and snowboarding are built around a dedication to providing serious
competitive athletes with the highest possible function, fabrication
and fit. That means developing the products with input from world
class athletes and using the best possible materials from companies
like Dupont, W.L. Gore, Malden Mills and Toray, to name a few. In
addition, RLX also incorporates an intangible that no other athletic
gear can claim, Ralph Lauren's design sensibility which has been
refined over a lifetime of outdoor adventures.
RLX Polo Sport products are being developed with input from, and
are tested by, the RLX Polo Sport World Cup Mountain Bike Team,
the RLX Polo Sport Snowboard Team, the RLX Polo Sport Triathlon
Team and the Aspen Ski and Snowboard Schools.
RLX made its trade debut at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt
Lake City earlier this month to an enthusiastic reception. "People
in the outdoor industry are very particular about their products
and RLX was clearly the most talked about brand at the show," said
Carson Stanwood, a spokesman for the Outdoor Retailer Show. "Dealers
and the media were incredibly positive about the entire line because
I think RLX addresses the technical and aesthetic desires of modern
outdoor enthusiasts."
The Spring 1999 RLX lines will be available at better cycling,
running, cross training, outdoor specialty, Polo Sport and select
Polo Ralph Lauren stores around the country. For information about
retail locations please call 800-775-7656. SOURCE Polo Ralph Lauren
