If you haven't already pricked up your ears to Marcy Playground's radio-friendly single, "Sex and Candy," then you must have your head in the sand. The understated guitar work is a perfect backdrop for the dreamy, glitter-filled lyrics; "The she was / Like disco superfly / I smell sex and candy here." While this track is not as rollicking a tune as the CD's energetic opener "Poppies" (which sounds like a revised School House Rock song) it is very indicative of what you'll get out of the CD as a whole. Lots of mid tempo to major-mellow songs with strangely sexual lyrics. If Nirvana had tried to do a Mazzy Star album it would have sounded exactly like this.
