Tahoe City, CA (May 18, 2002) - Alpine Meadows, located on Tahoe's North Shore, will purchase a Super Pipe Dragon to build what will be Tahoe's newest superpipe for 2002-2003. The superpipe will remain accessible via the Kangaroo double chair, which is adjacent to Alpine's base lodge; however, the pipe will be repositioned to a better angle. With anticipated 17-foot walls, the fact that some skiers and snowboarder would gain enough height out of the pipe to meet and surpass the chairlift's height needed to be considered.

Events involving the new superpipe are currently under plan, and will include various jams, local series competitions, and more. An official event calendar will be announced in the Alpine Meadows 2002-2003 media kit.
