The SOL Groove Vol. 1 Num. 12
(April 15, 1997)

A Very Taxing Groove

Duh na na na na na na na TAX MAN! We're all whining about taxes today. And that's why we're putting out this little burst of tax-free joy designed to happify the over-taxed, under-taxed and just plain taxed.

Take your mind off deductions, depreciations, and deadlines and check out all the super swell goodies we've thrown out on the web since last we spoke. And, if you're getting a refund we've got the perfect place for you to spend it all: the SOL Shop where everything is 10-15 percent off.

Oh, so as to be part of the Tiger Woods' zeitgeist here's the word: he's damn good, he won the Masters, but he doesn't snowboard and until he does we don't care about him. (If you do go here: http://www.igolf.com/ They're completely obsessed with him.) Okay, that's just about enough about taxes and golf.

THE LATEST. . .

INJURY UPDATE
Snowboarder Magazine built another one of their super parks. This time it was at Big White (a cool resort up in British Columbia). They had Mike Parillo design the place and then invited a bunch of huckers to throw it down for the photogs. Here's a short list of the damage done by the Super Park:

Devin Walsh--knocked the f*$# out.
Chris Brown--bruised heel.
Kevin Young--ankle tweaked.
Stevie Alters--blown out knee.
Randy Gaetano--broken leg.

COMING UP THIS MONTH
Yes, there are other things we'll be doing this month and here are just a small smattering of the events we'll be covering:

SOL will be live at Boarding For Breast Cancer on April 19th. The one day event will spotlight Luscious Jackson, Primus, a few smaller bands, and a lot of pros hucking themselves down the mountain at Sierra-at-Tahoe. Check in April 19 in the late afternoon and you might catch a little of the action.

Live coverage from the Second annual Vegetate event at Mt. Hood. Vegetate is a snowboarding event that benefits Mt. Hood's wildlife. It's sounds kind of stoney to us, but we'll let you know.

If you haven't heard of Stine Brun Kjeldaas yet, you will. Our up-close-and-personal spotlight of the month is with this Swedish star. Stine has been riding hard all season. In fact, if memory serves us she finished third at the 1997 World Championships.

K2's Ross Peterson goes on a road trip to Idaho and Canada with photographer Angie Silvy and a pack of pros from Bend. Read all about it.

That's it for this edition of The Groove. We'll do another one pretty soon and it will have a bunch of cool stuff in it. That's a promise.

If, in some bout of sanity, you decide you're sick and tired of getting this blatant bit of snowboard propaganda in your mailbox then please point your browser to this URL: http://www.solsnowboarding.com/register/unsub.cfm
