With no lift lines, plenty of sunny skies, and a bunch of soft man-made
snow, the New Mountain High was the first Southern California resort
kick off the winter season for the second year in a row. While it was
only one run, riders were having a great time making laps from the first
chair, which went up at noon, until late in the evening. The resort will
be open until 10 p.m. every evening this season.
In typical So Cal fashion, snowboarders outnumbered skiers on the first
day about ten to one. Some were just beginning, while there were a few
rippers looking for kickers to practice the latest tricks dreamed of all
summer.
What can we say other than we were there and it beat being in our
offices? There are now plenty of resorts open around the country. Go get
some riding it!
