Dane Hjort Moves to Rossignol

By Press Release

August 3, 2000

(Williston, VT) - Rossignol recently announced the hiring of Dane Hjort as snowboard division manager beginning August 14. He fills the position left open when Marc Bujold decided to leave the company this spring. Hjort will head up Rossis growing snowboard operation in the U.S.

Hjort joins Rossignol with experience working at other major brands in the snow-sports industry, most recently having served as director of marketing for Northwave, Drake, and Bakoda for four years. Previous to his years at Northwave/Drake, Hjort directed the marketing efforts at Ride Snowboards after a successful career as an independent sales representative. His strong sales involvement with specialty and chain stores, as well as experience in sales promotions and point-of-sale, will quickly make him an integral player on Rossis team.

"This is a huge opportunity for my career, plus a great challenge," says Hjort. "This is a great opportunity and I am looking forward to working with everyone there. We have great potential with the brand and product line. Rossignol has deep roots within snowboarding and a commitment to continue growing the brand. This was definitely a major point for me and my decision to work for the brand."

"Of course, this has been one of the toughest decisions Ive ever made," he says. "Its tough leaving these brands, people, and my friends. But theres an opportunity for their growth, and I felt confident with the direction set at Northwave and the people there are great. Theyll be able to progress the brands to next level."

He says there were a lot of synergies between Rossignol and Northwave and Drake and the brands sponsored a lot of the same team riders. "I was aware of their business, strengths, and weaknesses. I understand where theyve been and where they can go. Rossis got ton of strengths and I see lot of opportunity. Its a great organization and great people."

With sales of Rossignol snowboard products up over 40 percent in the U.S, Steven Dudley, executive VP of sales and marketing says, "It was time to bring on a heavy hitter. Dane Hjorts experience and reputation made him our clear number-one choice for the position as snowboard division manager. Were growing faster than the marketplace and have exciting product, not just in boards, but in boots and bindings, with more coming down the pike, and we believe Danes the man to lead the charge for us."

Hugh Harley, Rossignol U.S. president added, "Danes successful record speaks for itself. As a proven brand builder, Dane will take our snowboard division to the next level of business success."

Rossignol Snowboards has achieved great exposure and the resulting increase in sales are a great harbinger of more to come.
