Snowbird Cleared for Mineral Basin Lift

By Press Release

June 7, 2001

Snowbird Cleared to Construct Second Mineral Basin Chairlift

Snowbird, Utah - The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver, Colo. has denied Save Our Canyons' petition to stop Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort from constructing a second chairlift in Mineral Basin.

The court concluded that construction of the lift would cause no irreparable harm to a contested 30-foot piece of property owned by Snowbird.

The appeals court's decision reaffirms previous findings by federal judge Dee Benson.

"These ongoing appeals of reasonable ski area projects at various resorts around the state are expensive for Utah's taxpayers and ultimately have a negative impact on those of us who enjoy outdoor recreation," said Bob Bonar, Snowbird President and COO.

Snowbird plans to begin construction of the high-speed chairlift immediately.
