PR: Ski Homewood Changes Ownership, Name
12/21/98
Ski Homewood was recently acquired by Jay LLC., a limited liability company
headquartered in Tahoe City, California. Restructuring and improvements have
already begun as well as initiating the name change from Ski Homewood to Homewood
Mountain Resort.
Managing member of Jay LLC, Jeff Yurosek, has assumed a position of leadership
to the existing management as HMR's chief executive officer. Jim Mitchell, who
is in his fourth season as general manager, will continue to oversee day-to-day
operations. States Yurosek of Mitchell, "I have complete confidence in Jim's ability
as does the staff of Homewood."
"This acquisition is such a positive move for the West Shore," says Mitchell.
"Ski Homewood has set a solid foundation from which Homewood Mountain Resort can
build. From a facilities and programs standpoint we will be able to move to meet
and exceed the next level in customer service expectations."
Says Yurosek, "I am excited about the improvements underway and being a part of
the team that will help Homewood Mountain Resort achieve its potential as an all-season
mountain resort. The level of enthusiasm from the staff has been a highlight of the
transition from Ski Homewood to HMR. As a team, we are committed to reach our newly
set goals for customer service and satisfaction."
To meet consumer expectations, immediate improvements are being made to enhance
the resort experience. Enhancements include the addition of a new snowboard center
complete with all-new snowboard rental gear that includes boots, snowboards, and
the Switch step-in binding system. Complementing the addition of new rental equipment,
Homewood is adding two new Bombardier grooming machines to its fleet of four fan guns
to augment the snowmaking operations.
"Improvements to hospitality include expanded food and beverage services and
menu offerings in both North and South lodge facilities," says Sherry Tate,
director of communications. "Future plans include improvements to the Warming
Hut as well as the Quail's Nest; both ëup-mountain' food outlets. Quality improvements
will be found at the Ridge Grill & Pub, as well as streamlined procedures to simplify
all customer service transactions from ticket lines to food and beverage service."
