Kornberg Chief Operating Officer, Accounces $2.5 Million Financing
Commitment.
2/25/99
(February 23, 1999) Sims Sports, Inc. today announced that it
has appointed Micah Kornberg to the position of Chief Operating
Officer. Kornberg previously held the position of Vice President
of Finance and Administration at Sims. In conjunction with his appointment,
Sims also announced that a leading shareholder, Wyndcrest Partners,
has committed an additional 2.5-million dollars to the company.
"We are extremely pleased to elevate Micah to this position,"
said Sims founder Tom Sims. "Since he joined Sims in 1998, Micah
has been instrumental in stream-lining the company's operation,
allowing us to sharpen our focus on product engineering and development
and to improve our level of customer service."
With Kornberg's industry experience and finance background, Sims
possesses one of the most experienced and established management
teams in the snowboard industry. "Being part of the Sims team has
been an incredible experience," said Kornberg. "Sims has never been
stronger. Many of the changes we implemented in 1998 from continued
product innovation to greater responsiveness in customer service
have resulted in increased demand for Sims product. These changes
are clearly paying off, and we expect our retailers to realize the
full benefit of these changes this year," he said. Looking to the
future, Kornberg added, "we have a number of exciting projects under
development and there are some very positive announcements to come."
Sims simultaneously announced that a leading shareholder, Wyndcrest
Partners, has committed an additional 2.5-million dollars to the
company. Wyndcrest President John Textor said, "we remain 100-percent
committed to Tom Sims and the Sims brand. We are equally confident
in Micah and the Sims management team's ability to successfully
grow the brand and continue the positive momentum that Sims is enjoying.
