White Halloween Hits Telluride

By Press Release

October 31, 2000

TELLURIDE, Colo. (Oct. 31, 2000) - Eight inches of snow fell overnight at the Telluride Ski Resort, boasting a total accumulation of 18 inches in the past 72 hours and 25 inches in the past week. In addition to over two feet of natural snowfall, the Telluride Ski & Golf Company (Telski) has been making snow on the mountain for the past week, building a solid snow-base for opening day, November 21. Telluride currently reports a mountain-top base of 21 inches and a mid-mountain base of 14 inches with snow predicted to fall throughout the week.

"We've been blowing snow on the mountain for the past week, and our efforts combined with these natural snow storms will make for a great opening day," said Terry Fernald, Telski's vice president of mountain operations. "What a great Halloween treat for the locals."

For the 2000-2001 season, Telski invested over $3 million in the snowmaking infrastructure, creating top-to-bottom coverage on at least one run in the Lift 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 pods to ensure better early season conditions. In addition, Telski has enhanced the guest experience on and off the slopes with a variety of other improvements including:

The debut of Allred's restaurant, a new, fine dining option at the top of the gondola serving exquisite fare and spectacular views.

A completely redesigned and interactive website, www.telluride-ski.com, and a children's website at www.telluridekids.com.

Increased air access with new, daily non-stop jet service on American Airlines from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Montrose, Colo. (MTJ). Telluride now boasts service on four major carriers from five major hub cities, including Continental Airlines' daily non-stop jet service from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) to MTJ and Saturday non-stop jet service from Newark International Airport (EWR) to MTJ.

The Telluride Mountain opens Nov. 21, 2000 as a Donation Day for the Telluride Ski & Snowboard Club. All skiers and snowboarders will be required to purchase a $20 lift ticket to benefit the club's competitive programs. Early season rates, Season Passes and Telluride Cards are effective Nov. 22 and closing day is April 15, 2001. For more information and reservations, call Telluride Central Reservations at (800) 854-3062 or visit www.telluride-ski.com.
