1999 National Championships to be held at TELLURIDE, CO again!

The United States of America Snowboard Association announced today that TELLURIDE Colorado has been selected to host the 1999 National Championship event April 6-12, 1999. The 1998 event held at Telluride, was the World Largest Snowboarding event at 751 competitors. USASA National Championship culminates the season for over thirty regional series from across the USA.

The National Site Selection Committee headed by Jay Erickson received bids from several promising candidates, including Waterville Valley, NH. The Executive Board finalized the selection based on impressive bid proposals from all candidates, but Telluride¹s previous knowledge gained from hosting this event in 1998 proved the decisive factor. Mr. Erickson reported that Waterville Valley would most likely receive the nod for hosting the event in the year 2000. "The USASA has always moved this event around to different regions of the country each year, I¹m glad to see Telluride get the chance to do an even better job in 1999, Telluride has really figured out all the complicated ins & outs of working with the USASA and has already been through the learning curve."

The USASA is the nation's largest snowboarding organization. It provides grassroots snowboarding development for all age group competitors from 6 and younger to 60 and older. The 1999 National Championship will be the eleventh annual. The organization has previously held the event at Snow Valley Southern California, Timberline Lodge Mt. Hood Oregon, Stratton Vermont, Vail Colorado, Sierra at Tahoe California, Giants Ridge Minnesota, Mt Snow Vermont, Big Bear & Snow Summit in Southern CA, and Telluride Colorado.

Exclusively representing the USASA for national sponsorship is Malibu, CA - based LXD, Inc. LXD serves as executive producers of the television coverage of the USASA Nationals; and previous sponsors of the Nationals have included ESPN, AIRWALK and 1-800-COLLECT, among others.
