The Drifters

Exit

Price: On sale now in the SOL Shop.

Produced by: Adventure Scope Files

Riders: Craig Kelly, Brian Savard, Matt Goodwill, Morgan LaFonte, and many more.

SOL Comment: Exit is a fast paced collage of snowboarding, social commentary, and logos. It features the riding of Craig Kelly, Brian Savard, Matt Goodwill, Morgan LaFonte and a bunch more.

The good part about Exit is that it lets the riders actually speak, something that's pretty much gone from snowboard videos these days. Through short clips the personalities of the riders come through quite well. These clips are mixed in with cut and paste corporate logos, and Morgan LaFonte's spoken word create a drop out of society kind of statement. It's kind of hokey, but the riding is good.

Cathedral

Price: On sale now in the SOL Shop.

Produced by: Jake Oelman

Riders: Ah, darn it was so trippy we don't remember.

SOL Comment: In a word: stoney. Cathedral is a dreamy mix of images and snowboarding, and from that standpoint is interesting to watch. Obviously, Jake Oelman has a vision and the talent to pull it off. But it is a bit long, and quite a bit stoney. Or did we already say that? Yeah, it's a pretty stoney video. We're watching for Jake's next effort because the guy's got the eye.

The Mountain Man

Price: On sale now in the SOL Shop.

Produced by: RPG Films

Riders: Gret Todds, Scott Newsome, Mike Mikalchuk, Jonaven Morre, and a bunch more guys that we've never heard of but wish I had.

SOL Comment: A fun home movie from Canada featuring the world of Gret Todds, Scott Newsome, Mike Mikalchuk, Jonaven Morre, and a bunch more guys that I've never heard of but wish I had. One thing you'll learn: Canucks are crazy. They spend their days blowing stuff up and driving their beat up old clunkers in a destruction derby. Then they pull a kid out of a BMW, beat his ass, and then swing a snowboard through his front windshield. There must be more to this story, however, it's totally worth rewinding to watch it over and over. The Mountain Man has some epic comedy moments. And we can only hope for more next year.
