(Press Release, October 12, 1998)--Mt. Bachelor Chairman of the Board Wallace E. Stevenson announced the decision of David Marsh to retire as president of Mt. Bachelor, effective immediately. Marsh will continue on as a consultant to Mt. Bachelor as he pursues other interests.
"Over David's tenure, he lead Mt. Bachelor through one of the ski industry's largest expansions, including the construction of seven high-speed lifts, the Pine Marten Mid Mountain Lodge, and the new Northwest Territory," stated Stevenson. "We are deeply grateful to David for his contribution and his 31 years of service and leadership to Mt. Bachelor."
Marsh joined Mt. Bachelor in 1967 and served in various positions over the years, including vice president of operations and executive vice president before being elected president and member of the board of directors in August of 1986.
David Marsh has been a recognized leader in the ski industry. He served as chairman of the Pacific Northwest Ski Area Operators, a member of the Mt. Bachelor Ski Education Foundation, a member of the board of directors of the National Ski Area Association, and is currently a member of the board of directors of Arlberg Insurance Company.
In the recent meeting, the board of directors elected Director Randall C. Pape to assume additional responsibilities of president and CEO of Mt. Bachelor. Pape is also president and CEO of The Pape Group, Inc.
"It is an honor to be elected president of Mt. Bachelor," stated Pape. "We look forward to carrying on the great work of David and his management team and also look forward to continuing the Pape family involvement with Mt. Bachelor." He indicated no other operational or management changes are anticipated.
