Gourmet food…yoga…massage…first-class accommodations? Doesn’t sound like your typical snow safari.
It’s the Las Snolas Snow Safari, a women-only snow excursion geared toward women who may have different skill levels, but share the same adventurous spirit. With luxurious amenities and world class instructors, women can enjoy the snow in a wonderfully female way.
The latest journey is scheduled for British Columbia’s Whistler/Blackcomb Resort in February, 2002 with guests staying at the Westin Resort and Spa at Whistler/Blackcomb. “Women have a strong appreciation for the non-competitive atmosphere of mutual support and cooperation that develops on a group adventure,” said Beverly Sanders, snowboarding pioneer and founder of Las Olas Surf and Snow Safaris. “The women who join us at Las Olas Snow Safari will take home greater confidence on their boards and a dozen new friends.”
The adventurers will be guided by Las Olas’ snowboard/ski leaders, highly skilled mountain women with a documented history of success in their respective sports. Many were first sponsored by Avalanche Snowboards, under the direction of Bev Sanders. They share a passion for their sport and a commitment to sharing their expertise. Groups are small and divided according to ability.
But the on-mountain action is only part of the package. The daily ritual of Las Snolas Safari includes morning yoga sessions followed by a hearty breakfast. Safarians then head to the mountain with their leader for a daily dose of gravity-induced endorphins. A rejuvenating massage and spa activities are scheduled in the afternoons, followed by a gourmet dinner and fireside chats.
Sanders is a co-founder of one of the first snowboard manufacturing companies in the industry, and has been instrumental in the evolution of performance gear designed specifically for women. She takes her dedication one step further with the Las Snolas Safari, offering women an environment where they can experience beginner snowboarding, or hone their black-diamond abilities, in an atmosphere that supports both equally.
“It’s just, “Yoga, breakfast, snowboard, spa. Yoga, breakfast, snowboard spa…” Guests stay at the Westin Resort and Spa at Whistler/Blackcomb The resort boasts the 8000 square foot Avello Spa and Health Club offering more than two dozen spa treatments, fitness equipment, pilates studio, indoor/outdoor pool, whirlpools and steam rooms.
