Details Magazine announces that it will host it's inaugural "Details On
the
Edge Snowboard Festival" on March 12-14, 1999 at Big Bear Mountain, Big
Bear,
CA.
The event, awarding pro and amateur contestants $80,000 in cash and
prizes, will feature the first ever "Open 1/4 Pipe Competition". Many top
professional and amateur snowboarders are expected to compete in the
three-day
long event that will also include a "Viewers Choice - Winner take All" -
Pro
Big Air Competition and a USASA Amateur Slope Style Competition. With
$80,000
in cash and prizes, the three-day festival has become the largest single
snowboarding event of the year!
The event will coincide with a special snowboarding section in Details
Magazine's March issue. Participating sponsors include Jose Cuervo,
L'Oreal,
Mazda Protege, Mentadent and Universal Pictures, Morrow Snowboards, K2
Snowboards, Mervin Snowboards and Bonfire Outerwear. In addition to the
premier competition, the weekend will also include bar parties, fashion
shows,
live simulcasts from 106.1 KROCK, 91X San Diego and 103.1 KCXX and music
with
bands such as Zebrahead, The Slackers, The Skelatones, etc. The event
will be
telecast as a one hour weekend show on Fox Sport Net, in March. The
event is
produced, promoted and managed by Urban Dynamics, Inc of New Jersey. UDI
is
also handing TV production.
